Sundays are for Exploring
On our way back from the Trade Secrets Garden Tours on Sunday my mum wanted to go to White Flower Farm which is a famous place she visited long ago.
While driving we passed through Bantam, CT not realizing it, we were going to drive right by Guy Wolff's Pottery Studio. I had just met him the day before at the Garden Show which my mum didn't come with me to, but I did take pictures to show her and also the pottery that I had brought home, she loved the piece. So we decided to stop by and take a look. I told my mum she could get whatever she wanted for Mother's Day. It was a very quaint little studio next to his house with an array of pottery that he also had at the show the day before. I ended up getting two terra cotta pots to add to the one I purchased yesterday and my mum got five little white pots for the kitchen window sill to grow herbs in. If you ever drive by I recommend stopping in.
White Flower Farm
Our next stop on the way home was White Flower Farm, located kind of in the middle of no where it just popped up on the side of the road. Packed with people shopping all over, they had an abundent selection of David Austin Roses which are hard to find unless you order them online. There was a post awhile back in the Gardens Illustrated Magazine about David Austin Roses and there latest 'Charles Darwin' yellow rose which I have been looking for ever since... unfortunately they did not have it. But they did have other colors and the fragrance coming off of them was unreal. The Farm was not only a nursery but they actually had a nice garden that was planted in the ground to look at and walk around, so basically it was our 5th garden tour of the day. The prices were on the high side compared to other nurserys I've been too, however they did have more sculptures and bird baths and stone benches than other nurseries.
