The Hive Timeline

  • 1-3 Days : Bees are still eggs

  • 5 Days: Larva (The Feeding stage)

  • 6-12 days: Pupa - Stage of metamorphosis, lasting about 12 days

  • 21 days: Adult Worker bee emerges

A closer look:

  • 1-3 Days: Housekeeping, young bees clean up the hive

  • 4-12 Days: Nurse Bee, nursing other bees and developing their hypo-pharyngael gland

  • 7-12 Days: Attending the Queen

  • 8-17 Days: Comb Building, developing their wax gland

  • 12-18 Days: Receiver Bees

  • 12-18 Days: Fanning, strengthening their wing muscles

  • 18+ Days: Guard Bee (Increasing their Venom Gland)

  • 18-21 Days: Foraging

The spend 3 weeks in the cell and 3 weeks foraging.

Festooning: All the bees line up grabbing each others legs to make a line from one frame to another drawing wax to the empty frame.
