New York Botanical Gardens: Orchid Night
Every year (for 16 years) the New York Botanical Gardens has a beautiful breathtaking orchid show in the Enid A. Haupt Conservatory with thousands of beautiful stunning orchids all around. This year it featured “a series of installations crafted by Daniel Ost. Each living sculpture celebrates the complex beauty of these stunning flowers, highlighting individual orchids attached in such a way that each flower and form can be seen and appreciated. One of the world’s leading floral artists, Ost uses flowers as a means of expression. His large-scale artworks have been tailored to the unique environment of the landmark Victorian-style Conservatory, complementing the architecture of the building while creating a transformative, dazzling spectacle of color, form, and texture.” - The NYBG
This year instead of going during the day time, I decided to go to the Orchid Evening Show. They had music playing throughout the exhibit as well as two beautiful fire pits outside lit up. When you first walk in you are greeted by two beautiful women on stilts dancing. They also had three bars throughout the exhibit which featured a speciality cocktail “The Dancing Lady”.
The evenings are from 6:30-9:30pm on certain nights. From going to the day and the evening show, I can’t recommend one over the other because they are both equally amazing. There was less crowd during the night which made it easier to take photos, and get a closer view of the flowers. However there is more light on the orchids in the day time which makes clearer brighter photos.
Here are some photos from the night, enjoy!
